"When I read SPROCKETS
by Mike Myers & Jim Handy & Mike McCullers with all
that publicity with Myers wasn't happy with the script I knew
I could do much better. His script was funny, but why go on
a fish out of water story to America to see Los Angeles? They
missed the whole point of SPROCKETS. And worse, Myers was
hung up on the whole script isn't perfect. Why is Myers so
concerned about writing a script anyway? His genius is improvisation
from a decent script. He's no screenwriter, but he is a terrific
entertainer. I knew how to solve both his problems at once,"
says Kevin Hainsworth, writer/director. "SPROCKETS was
supposed to be a live German TV show very popular in Germany.
If it's LIVE, let's see the actual show live, and let's see
the week upto the show from planning, writing, set design,
camera blocking, dress and show. You need a director TV, a
producer, a writer. LIVE FROM MUNICH?
I thought who do I want acting in this when I direct it. Alec
Baldwin, Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell. And Mike Myers. Viggo
Mortensen as a Danish director and Nicole Kidman as a beergarten
waitress. Can you imagine how much fun we'd have?"
